Cut the drum down to 22”, drill a hole then cut out more for the draw bar. Make yourself an easy and cheap rear ballast! Another thing to keep in mind is that ballast or counterweight is needed at the rear of the skid steer to keep all four wheels on the ground for stability. Reinforcing structure close to the front wheels does not contribute that much to counterweight.

Now that I think about it, skid steers have very short wheelbases which will make 1000 lb of rear end ballast insufficient for a payload of 1500 lb. I've used a homemade 'carryall' for 2+ decades. The ballast box is a skid with sides, weight inside. When ballast is needed, simply backup to 'ballast skid' ,lift and go... when done, just drop it off. NO messing with 3PH pins,arms,etc. SIMPLE 10 seconds on .

A little off topic, but one thing I noticed is that when I put my loader in "float", the front wheels will come off the ground far enough I lose steering control, when pushing snow.
