About a week ago the backup camera would not work in my 2017 Caterpillar 259D. Machine will not show the camera icon on the display. I have power to the camera, no visible abrasions in the wire, fuse is good. I reset the display, holding the outer two buttons for 5 seconds, no change in status.
Last summer the machine was kept by the dealership for 2 months to replace a 0 manifold and the camera issue was not the focus, but it happened then too. There’s only 555 hours on the machine. How common is the camera problem in 333g’s? Someone else on this conversation had the original camera and the warranty replacement stop working. I drove several new style skid steers in the last year and choose to purchase a Bobcat t630 that had one of the easiest rear views of them all. Now I am thinking of putting a backup camera or [rear view] in it. Just cant see what would be wrong with preventing my neck from hurting at the end of the day. Any thoughts on the subject? [ I do have . I purchased one at pep boys on sale at 59.00, usually 99.00. It's a small screen, but works ok to view the rear blind area. It is not very effective when running skid steer at high RPM. But very good to look at before backing up. I put a automotive backup camera in the skidsteer 3 winters ago, it is good enough for me but daytime snow plowing there is not much definition between the white snow banks and the white road. You also need to try to look into the future some on some of your future investments; if you plan on buying a compact excavator in the future then you might be better off with buying a a certain brand hammer (ex: bobcats skid steer breakers and augers will work on the skid loader and there excavators with the pull of a pin. Not sure about cat.). backup camera usually mounts on the rear roof of vehicle to get best viewing angle , the monitor you can choose is clip-on rear view mirror monitor or stand alone monitor. but easily wiring backup camera system is wireless reverse camera system, that no need run cable between camera and monitor.
