Finally got to pop some holes with the auger. The auger was a lot of work to build, but totally worth it. In all my years of digging holes, this has been t. I did this myself with an auger. The only modification I used was pipe for the drilling stem and a swivel fitting for pumping water to the bit. The hole was 25 feet sand then rock, so I dumped bentonine clay inside to prevent hole collapse.
A. Buy a tractor mounted pto drill. B. Use a skid steer with an existing auger attachment / Build a derrick to mount on a skid steer. C. Build a trailer mounted drill unit. D. Use a dump truck with bed extender, a long cable and heavy steel drop a pipe, hit the same place over and over to make a hole as it goes down. E. So I reccomended a 9 foot deep drywell. We wanted to save as much money as possible. So this is . I have a 1 1/2 inch water line into my house and can easily run a one inch line to where I want to drill the well. If water is going down the pipe and out near the auger, the water coming back up the hole will carry the dirt with it.
