Something was bent during the parking brake apply. At some point in a prior life, mine had a parking brake apply causing the area where the parking pin goes through the chain case to crack and bend. It was rewelded but I'll need to touch it up and install a proper pin. Take a look at the parts break down at the main Case NA site or Messicks. I'm looking at a used 1979 1845. Can anyone tell me how to access the parking brake pawls on a 1999 1840. I used to park outside and if the seat bar were left in the upright position and any frozen precip happened the p brake would freeze in park position. So for the past 8 years I've been parking with the bar down and used a tarp to cover the machine. Parking brake engages while in motion. When this happens there is reverse pressure placed on the control arms and an absolutely excruciating sound of brake pads working against the forward moving motors. Background: When we first acquired the skid steer we had this issue and were able to track it down to the alternator having been rewired . This is a question regarding preparing for a hypothetical, yet eventual situation. I know that someday I will need to move my C238 in a disabled condition. I'm trying to figure out if there is a mechanical method to release the parking brake system to tow this machine if it ever becomes disabled.
The SS still rolls if on a hill though, the brake doesn't see to be holding it. This SS has the spring activated brake attached to the drive motors. Hydraulic pressure releases the brakes. I disconnected the hydraulic line feeding the parking brakes to make sure there was zero pressure on both. The brakes should have engaged with no pressure. I have a 2002 Mustang 2070. When I release the parking switch I get power to the entire tractor but the parking brake will not release. The bucket has full power but whenever i try to move the tractor it dies. I have replaced the parking rocker switch and have jumped the timer using the two orange wires.
