I need to add a 70+ hp wheeled skid steer for snow removal this winter and .The Terex PT-50 is meant to be a mid-size tracked skid loader but that's where the comparison . Terex cranes are a combination of demag, lorain/koening, P&H, and American, maybe simon too. I don't currently own a skid loader- let alone a terex, but I would probably buy anything else. Tak, Deere, Cat, Case, Bobcat etc. If the terex is cheap now, wait till 3 years from now, when you want to trade it. A user asks about buying a Terex PT30 tracked skid steer for drainage and snow removal work in Norway. Other users share their opinions and experiences with ASV RC-30 and PT30 models.
Bobcat, Deere, Caterpillar, Case and New Holland have about 90% of the skid steer market. ASV may make a great machine for an owner/operator that wants that specific undercarriage. In the rental business we want a durable and simple machine that anybody and their brother can jump in and run and abuse. Cat took an ASV undercarraige, grafted an oversized skid steer on to it, and the end result was very shortened life of tracks. A 257 B3 weighs over 8000 pounds, a pt 60 around 6400. Thats adding 25% more weight to the undercarriage.
Another downfall of it was it runs 14-17.5" tires, they're quite a bit more money to replace then normal 12x16.5 skid steer tires. A skid steer that big seems to be a niche machine, there's a lot of jobs or situations where a smaller machine could out work it simply because it's easier to move around or squeeze between things. Things I like the machine it pushes really well and has great visibility of both the front cutting edge and the back of the bucket. The cabin has heaps of room And the seat was comfortable. Thing I don't like out way the thing I do. I found it slow compared to my machine ( I have a Terex pt50) and a new Cat 259d I tested a few weeks ago.

We have a Terex skid steer that continues to track after the controls are let go for 10-15 feet . Checked the pilot charge pressure and it is within spec. Anybody have any ideas as to what may be causing this? Terex UK manufactured more backhoes than the Indian plant, and the Indian models are completely different to the ones you see in Europe and the US. The skid steers are also unique to the Indian factory. I didn't realise the Delhi plant had been sold off separately, so apologies for that. As I wrote, Mecalac bought Terex UK. They are priced very reasonable for what you get. Schaeff started the company a long time ago and Terex bought them out. I think they have a main branch in Missippi, just south of Memphis,TN. Also the Bobcat442 is the same as the HR32, if you have a Bobcat dealer close to you. Look up terex-schaeff.com. Go to the english version. Damn Germans.
My CASE dealership wants their excavators, not overly excited by their CTLs but the real rubbing point is they want them to take their wheeled skid steers as well. The dealership is considering dropping TK all together. TK is willing to lose their only TK dealer in like 800 miles over their POS wheeled ASV skid steer. It is insane.
