The whole time I was thinking about purchasing some over the tire tracks. I would own a set of over the tire tracks, but I have an odd-ball sized tire (31.5x13x16.5). If I bought a set of tracks, I'd have to purchase new wheels and tires also :realmad: Thomas, Does McClaren now offer any tracks to fit my size tires (31.5x13x16.5) on a 773T . I've got over the tire tracks and love them. The dealer did discuss with me that they put more stress on your drive components of your loader. And you can tell the loader strains a little with tracks. I try to run my machine without them as much as possible, to reduce the stress on the machine.
I'd go tracks for any grading, you get a lot more area on the ground to keep ya stable. I don't even rent the wheeled ones anymore. Traction limited, bouncy, tougher to grade with. The over the tire tracks are interesting but you still have potentially flats to deal with, and the wheelbase remains about the same. Worst case scenario, take the tracks off before you take it in for warranty work. Most warranties are only 1 year anyway, wait a year then put the tracks on. Does the Magneson Moss act cover manufacturers warranties on heavy equipment? How many people have broken components as a result of over the tire track use or the VTS system. Anyone have expirence with the Protrac Over the tire rubber tracks. Thinking of ordering a set here soon. Take for instance my area a wheel skid is pretty much useless. Now a CTL or skid steer with tracks will do more jobs and go places a wheeled skid can not. The over the tire tracks on a wheeled skid help a little but as said they tear up the ground too much. Lets see you blow a tire on a job now you have down time taking the tire to get fixed. Most skid steers have slight differences in wheel circumference and will leave black marks even when going straight. Over the tire rubber tracks do not distribute the weight as well as real track machines and do not perform as well in mud, In fact if you get into some clay or marl that is soupy enough, the tracks will slip around the wheels and . So, it seams you need a track that you can't break but it's also rubber. If you are worried about scratching the pavement, forget about all-steel tracks. Go with McLaren Rubber OTT tracks - we have them for over 2 years and have done great projects thanks to them that we couldn't do otherwise. They paid off the first 6 months we got them. The tractor/skid steer argument has been beaten to death. If you work on lawns, buy a tractor. If you move a lot of dirt, get a skid steer because it'll bury a tractor 3 ways to Sunday when it comes to moving large quantities of material.
