As with most internet searches for equipment reviews, you typically only find those folks with bad experiences and looking to vent. As someone looking to add a skid steer on a modest budget to the farm, I've found several Mustang's in my price range but I'm leary based on lack of positive reviews.

In general Mustang are good skid steers but the small ones from that era were WAY under powered. I rented one to do a job in very tight quarters and down a 4' retaining wall. One thing I don't like about Mustangs is that the hydraulic tank is in the belly of the machine. #1. Just got this machine as a working project and everything seems to work great except after moving it around a bit the left. hand drive refuses to move without locking up, have a manual coming but just wondered if anyone else knows there way around. this model. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the quality and longevity or mustang skid steers. The one i am looking at has an owner that doesn't know the model but it is a early eighties model and is yellow with a four cylinder gas engine. Just bought this one as a project and the only major problem is it seems to lock up on the left hand drive after walking it about 40 feet, hydraulics are strong on the bucket area so that checks out, almost seems like a brake or something is jammed, could walk it about 5 ft and it only got worse, Have a shop manual coming but might not be here f. The same dealer has 2 mid 90's Mustang brand skid steers that are priced about 00 less than the Case and have lower hours and appear to be in great shape. New tires, tight pins, no weld repairs, no leaks, good hoses, not banged up, and clean paint.
